Eric Clapton has 11 Grammys and this retro Ferrari 458
Slowhand's Ferrari SP12 EC cost $4.7 million and pays tribute to the iconic Berlinetta Boxer.
In 2012, Clapton collaborated with Ferrari's Centro Stile and Pininfarina to create the one-off SP12 EC in celebration of his legendary career and his long tenure as a Ferrari owner.
The SP12 EC is a tribute to the Berlinetta Boxers of yore—both 365 and 512—and is based on the excellent 458 Italia, so there's no V12, but it has all the style of the old boxers. The car cost $4.7 million to build and is easily be worth just as much if not more today based on its provenance.
What's most impressive is how cleanly it integrates the old BB styling cues. It's retro but not ponderously so—prettier in may ways than the more insectine 458 that lives under its skin.
